Officials say southern Nevada residents will see an increase in military flights in the skies over the Las Vegas area for the next three weeks while Nellis Air Force Base conducts Red Flag combat training exercises. Nellis says combat training will be over the nearly 3 million acre U.S. Air Force Nevada Test and Training Range north of Las Vegas. The 414th Combat Training Squadron is responsible for the event, with Air Force units from bases in nine states and forces from the United Kingdom and Australia. The exercise will also involve a cyberspace component. For the first two weeks, more than 80 aircraft are scheduled to depart Nellis about 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. The week of March 7-11, launches will be about 2 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
